On September 15, Kazakhstan celebrated the Day of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Service Worker for the first time at the state level - a professional holiday for specialists who are at the forefront of protecting public health and ensuring the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the country.
Today, Astana gathered representatives of the sanitary and epidemiological service from all regions of the country for a large-scale gala event dedicated to the new professional holiday. The opening ceremony was headed by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Akmaral Alnazarova.
In her welcoming speech, she emphasized the key role of sanitary and epidemiological service specialists in protecting public health and strengthening the country's biological security: "The future belongs to preventive medicine - this phrase, said two centuries ago, remains relevant today. Thanks to your work, dangerous infections have been eliminated in the country, a reliable barrier has been put up to epidemics, including during the COVID-19 pandemic. You ensure the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the country around the clock. I express my gratitude to all of you for your selfless service to your chosen cause and dedication,” the Minister noted.
As part of the event, employees and veterans of the industry were solemnly awarded state and departmental awards for many years of conscientious work, high professionalism and significant contribution to public health protection.
Particular attention was paid to veterans of the service, whose dedicated and long-term work became a solid foundation for the formation of a modern sanitary and epidemiological control system and an example for the younger generation of specialists. The establishment of the Day of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Service Worker has become an important symbol of recognition of the high social significance of the work of sanitary doctors, epidemiologists, laboratory workers and all who daily guard public health, preventing potential threats and maintaining epidemiological stability in the country.
